Breaking News: Chief Training Officer Teresa Sindelar Touches the Future of Human Spaceflight

Teresa Sindelar’s childhood dream of working in human spaceflight became a reality after a chance encounter with former NASA astronaut Tom Stafford when she was just 11. Following Stafford’s advice to explore the Kansas Cosmosphere, she immersed herself in its programs, interned during college, and eventually worked there full-time while earning her graduate degree.

Her passion for teaching and mentoring led her to a career at NASA, where she now serves as a chief training officer (CTO) in the Flight Operations Directorate at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. In this role, Sindelar, along with her team of CTOs, ensures the proper training of NASA astronauts, crew members from international partners, and all flight controllers. As a CTO, she coordinates various aspects of training to ensure alignment among instructors, schedulers, outside partners, and facility managers, aiming to enhance the overall training flow and achieve long-term training goals and objectives.
