A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ayekooto Akindele has claimed that the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai’s fresh allegation against the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu was only an attempt to escape being jailed.
DAILY POST reports that El-Rufai on Sunday accused Ribadu of importing thallium sulphate, a highly toxic chemical compound into the country, demanding an urgent clarification over the alleged transaction.
El-Rufai, who is expected to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Monday over alleged corruption, made the allegation in a letter addressed to the office of the NSA.
Reacting, Ayekooto, in a post on his X account, claimed that the former governor is “now looking for a way to dodge detention and possibly jail”.
He wrote, “Again, having openly confessed to a criminal act of hacking on a live TV, he knows that tomorrow may be the beginning of series of trials from the DSS, EFCC, ICPC among others.
“He’s now looking for a way to dodge detention and possible jail. So by alleging poison importation, he is trying to say that detention or cell facilities are suspicious. Unfortunately, he’s just being silly, wasting his hypocritical time.
“If the DSS or any agency feels that you should be in the custody, so be it. You’re too small to become a national nuisance. Nobody will kpai you, you will only go when Allah says it’s your time. Stop panicking, NASIRU, be a Man”!
