Breaking News: NASA Announces 2025 International Space Apps Challenge Global Winners


NASA Space Apps recently announced the 10 winners of the 2025 NASA Space Apps Challenge. Over 114,000 participants from 167 countries and territories came together in 551 local events to showcase their STEM skills. During the two-day hackathon, they proposed innovative ways to utilize NASA’s open data to create actionable tools.

Participants worked on challenges provided by NASA subject matter experts, ranging from leveraging artificial intelligence to developing tools to evaluate air quality. The event aimed to put NASA’s free and open data into the hands of explorers worldwide, including NASA enthusiasts, future scientists, regional decision-makers, and the general public.

One of the winning teams, SpaceGenes+, from Germany, received the Best Use of Science Award. Their project involved building an interactive dashboard to help researchers understand the impact of radiation and microgravity on astronaut health at a molecular level. This tool provides valuable insights for mission planners and researchers, facilitating more effective decision-making in space exploration.
