Breaking News: NASA Funds Early Career Employee Research

Sylvie Crowell, a materials researcher at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, has been honored with a NASA Early Career Initiative (ECI) award for her research proposal on Lunar Dust Reduction through Electrostatic Adhesion Mitigation (L-DREAM). The focus of the research is to develop a passive lunar dust mitigation coating for solar cells and thermal control surfaces.

The ECI award, operated under the NASA Space Technology Mission Directorate, will support Crowell’s research starting on October 1, 2025, for the fiscal year 2026. NASA’s ECI program offers early career researchers a unique opportunity to lead technology development projects, ensuring that NASA remains at the forefront of technological innovation through collaborations with external experts.
