Breaking News: NASA’s Chandra Finds Small Galaxies May Buck the Black Hole Trend

According to a recent study using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, most smaller galaxies may not have supermassive black holes in their centers. Contrary to the common belief that nearly every galaxy contains these giant black holes within their cores, this study suggests otherwise. The research analyzed over 1,600 galaxies observed with Chandra over two decades, revealing that smaller galaxies, like PGC 03620, are less likely to have supermassive black holes. Larger galaxies, such as NGC 6278, show evidence of giant black holes within their cores. These findings challenge the prevailing notion and highlight the diversity in galactic structures.
