NASA’s Orion spacecraft, set to transport the Artemis II crew on a mission around the Moon, is currently stationed at the launch pad as of January 17, 2026. Positioned on top of the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket, the Orion spacecraft is capable of providing living quarters for up to four astronauts for a maximum of 21 days without the need to dock with another spacecraft. This mission will showcase cutting-edge technologies essential for deep space travel, including advancements in life support, avionics, power systems, and state-of-the-art thermal protection to ensure the safety and well-being of the crew from launch to recovery.
