As a young girl in India in 1957, Hashima Hasan was captivated by the sight of Sputnik passing through the night sky. Inspired by this moment, she dreamt of becoming a space scientist and went on to achieve incredible success. After earning a doctorate in theoretical nuclear physics from the University of Oxford, Hasan faced numerous challenges as a female scientist. Despite this, she forged ahead with determination and eventually found herself working as a program scientist for NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope, among other missions.
