Three Rescued, 10 Reportedly Missing in Akwa Ibom-Abia Boundary Clash – Police

Three persons have been rescued while 10 others are missing after a clash in the boundary of Akwa Ibom and Abia states, the police have said.

The clash, which reportedly occurred in the Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, led to the destruction of property and the displacement of some persons.

The spokesperson of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Odiko MacDon, confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday.

Mr MacDon, a superintendent of police, did not say whether there was any casualty in the incident, but said those rescued were receiving treatment in a hospital.

“Yes, the incident truly happened,” he said. “It’s a boundary clash between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.”

Reported missing

Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom State authorities reported that 10 persons; five from each of the states were missing.

Mr MacDon said the police were making efforts to find those missing.

“The information we have is 10 were missing, four were injured while three have been rescued and they are in the hospital,” he said.

He said the police were working with their counterparts in Abia State to get to the root of the matter.
