Zamfara lawmaker rejects APC Ward, LG congress results

By Idris Salisu, Gusau

GUSAU — Honourable Aminu Sani Jaji, a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Kaura-Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, has rejected the results of the recently concluded APC Wards and Local Government congresses in Zamfara State, citing widespread irregularities.

Speaking at a press conference in Gusau on Monday, Jaji described the elections as a “child’s play” and alleged that they were manipulated by certain individuals in collusion with state and national party executives for selfish interests.

He claimed that some party members were denied voting rights by officials sent from the APC National Headquarters, despite paying for nomination and expression forms through official party channels.

“The committee sent from National Headquarters of APC allegedly conspired with some members and other elements, abusing the dignity of APC members in my constituency and across Zamfara State,” Jaji said. “Some reports suggest participants were from PDP and other opposition parties, undermining our party’s guidelines.”

Jaji called on the Minister of State for Defence and party leader in Zamfara, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, to intervene and prevent a repeat of the 2019 crisis. He urged the APC National Chairman and National Working Committee to dissolve the state working committee and schedule a fresh, inclusive congress.

“We appeal to the committee constituted by the President to reconcile APC members to intervene and resolve the lingering crisis in the state,” he said, emphasizing the need for fairness, inclusivity, and adherence to party guidelines.
